The DSC PGP9976 is the newer-generation PowerG+ wireless smoke and heat detector for compatible DSC and Qolsys security systems. It combines photoelectric smoke detection with supplemental fixed-temperature and rate-of-rise heat sensing, plus an internal piezoelectric sounder.

Important compatibility note: The PGP9976 is compatible with DSC PowerSeries Neo PowerG systems using supported firmware and operates in legacy/fallback compatibility mode on Neo. It is the current replacement path for the discontinued DSC PG9936 smoke and heat detector. For PowerSeries Neo, verify panel firmware is v1.35 or later before installation.

DSC PowerSeries Neo Compatibility

The PGP9976 is designed for the newer PowerG+ ecosystem but maintains backward compatibility with supported legacy PowerG panels. On DSC PowerSeries Neo v1.35+, it enrolls using fallback compatibility equivalent to the earlier PGx936 family. This makes it an important replacement option for existing systems where the discontinued PG9936 was previously specified.

Replacement note: Distributor cross-reference information lists the PGP9976 as the replacement for model PG9936. Always confirm panel firmware and local application requirements before replacement.
