Access control determines who may enter, where they may go and when access is permitted. Credentials can be issued, suspended, scheduled and audited without rekeying the entire facility.
Our normal commercial standard: credentials are required to enter—not to leave. The opening should remain secure from the exterior while preserving safe, intuitive egress from the interior through appropriate listed hardware.

Avenger Security has installed, serviced, expanded, transferred and supported Brivo systems for more than a decade. Brivo is a strong fit for organizations that need remote administration, mobile credentials, multi-site visibility, event history and scalable user management.
Visitor intercoms, mobile entry, gate calls, lobby stations and remote release can be coordinated with access control so visitors, deliveries and vendors follow a practical entry workflow.
The controller and software are only part of the system. The door must close, latch, lock, unlock and report its condition consistently.
Fail-Secure Hardware
Electric strikes and electrified locksets can keep the exterior secure while allowing normal mechanical egress from inside.
Panic Hardware & Latch Retraction
Motorized latch retraction can provide controlled entry through commercial exit devices without interfering with normal use of the crash bar.
Door Status & Accountability
Door position sensors support forced-open and held-open reporting, better audit trails and useful notifications.
Readers & Credentials
Card, fob, keypad, mobile and dual-credential readers should match the risk, users and operating workflow.

Closers, Frames & Alignment
A misaligned strike, weak closer, damaged hinge or poor latch condition can make a good access system unreliable.
Best practice: for most standard commercial openings, Avenger Security generally prefers appropriate fail-secure hardware instead of unnecessary magnetic locks. Maglocks, delayed egress, controlled egress and other special locking arrangements require additional design and life-safety review.
Vehicle Access
Gates, garages, parking lots and private roads
Use the same access strategy beyond the building entrance. We coordinate gate operators, safety devices, RFID, LPR, intercoms, cameras, relay control and emergency access.
You do not need to replace an entire system simply because the original installer is no longer helping. We evaluate what can be repaired, reused, transferred or upgraded.
Common problems we correct
Reader beeps but the lock does not release.
Door unlocks but fails to relock.
Door does not close or latch consistently.
Electric strike or panic hardware is misaligned.
Controller, power supply or network connection is intermittent.
For normal commercial access control, occupants should be able to leave without a credential, app, key or special knowledge.
ADA Operation
Reader location, hardware selection, reach, opening force and the practical method of using the door should be reviewed.
Fire Alarm Coordination
Special locking may require fire alarm release, drawings, permitting, inspection and AHJ acceptance.
Controlled Egress
Care and behavioral-health facilities may require specialized locking logic, staffing procedures, approvals and detailed door-by-door design.
Gate Safety
Vehicle gates require properly located entrapment-protection devices, warning signage, emergency access and operator coordination.
Permit Support
We can help coordinate Austin Fire and other AHJ review when electrical locking, egress or fire alarm interfaces affect the project.
Final egress, accessibility, fire alarm interface, electrical locking, gate safety, elevator interface, permitting and AHJ requirements must be confirmed for the specific property and approved scope.

Commercial access control FAQs
What is an access control system?
An access control system manages who may enter a door, gate, elevator, suite or restricted area, when access is allowed and which credential is required. It also creates an event history for authorized and unauthorized activity.
Do all doors need a card reader?
No. Some openings need a reader, others only need door-status monitoring or remote release, and some should remain mechanical. Each opening should be designed around its actual function.
Can Avenger Security install and support Brivo?
Yes. Avenger Security has installed, serviced, expanded, transferred and supported Brivo access control systems for more than a decade.
Can you service a system installed by another company?
Yes. We can review the existing account, controllers, readers, locks, wiring, credentials, users, schedules and physical door condition to establish the best repair or takeover path.
Can access control operate vehicle gates and parking garages?
Yes. Access control can be integrated with gate operators, barrier arms, RFID, license plate recognition, intercoms, visitor entry, cameras and emergency access devices.
Should employees use credentials to exit?
Normally, no. Standard commercial openings should generally provide free egress from the interior. Controlled egress, delayed egress and other special locking arrangements require additional analysis and approval.
Does access control require a permit?
It depends on the opening and jurisdiction. Standard card access may be straightforward, while magnetic locks, controlled egress, delayed egress, stair locking and fire alarm release may require drawings, plan review, permitting and inspection.
Can existing readers and wiring be reused?
Often they can, but reuse depends on condition, compatibility, credential format, wiring method, reader protocol, power and the intended replacement platform. We evaluate this during the site review.
